CHRIS BRYANT IS 12th EUROPE MINISTER IN 12 YEARS - LABOUR TREATING POST LIKE REVOLVING DOOR SAYS SIR ROBERT

Brussels 12 October 2009. As Chris Bryant became 12th Europe Minister in Twelve years, Conservative Chief Whip in the European Parliament Sir Robert Atkins accused Labour of treating the post like a revolving door.

Sir Robert was responding to news that Glenys Kinnock is being moved from the Europe Minister post and being replaced by Junior Minister Chris Bryant.

Sir Robert said,

“The post of Europe Minister is too important to be treated like a revolving door, particularly at such a critical time. We have had 12 different Europe Ministers in 12 years under Labour. Little wonder that in key European negotiations there is no continuity of policy.”
