Sir Robert Tackles Identity Theft

Dear Sir/Madam

I have had some experience of identity theft related crime and, as a result, would like to take this opportunity to share some important information with your readers.

I was advised by local crime prevention officers that one should never divulge any personal information, by phone, post or email, unless completely certain as to the identity of the recipient.

Phone calls and emails, purportedly from your credit card company or bank, asking for confirmation of your card number or banking details, should be dismissed and immediately reported to the company. Likewise, letters which claim that you have won the 'Spanish Lottery' should be ignored, shredded and recycled.

I would urge your readers to follow these simple guidelines and to take the time to learn more about how to prevent identity theft, by visiting the website:

Yours faithfully

The Rt. Hon. Sir Robert Atkins MEP
