Lake Windemere Speed Restriction

The Rt. Hon. Sir Robert Atkins, MEP for the North West, will visit Windermere on Tuesday, 30th May to discuss the damaging effects of the 10 mph speed limit, proposed by the Government, on tourism and industry. He will meet Members of the Windermere & Bowness Chamber of Trade and other local residents and business owners.

"When I was the Environment Minister I resisted this restriction", commented Sir Robert, "and I want to see and confirm for myself that the present Labour Minister (Chris Mullin MP) is wrong to have made this decision in the face of substantial local opposition from those who live, work and really know the area".

The North West MEP will start from the Windermere Motor Boat Club at 11.30 a.m., spend the morning in and around the Lake, take a trip a on boat and then lunch at the Low Wood Hotel with a number of those residents most affected by the proposed ban.
